Time to get funky fresh with these classic bombastic jammy jams!

Dave Matthews is back with a new single, “Funny The Way It Is,” a new album, a summer tour, and a signature, sensitive voice that has become part of the American music landscape. We gathered a few of his influences (Dylan, Allman Bros), and mixed in some of his best collaborations (Jurassic 5, Soulive, Bela Fleck) and kindred sonic spirits (Jack Johnson, Ray LaMontagne and John Mayer).

That’s right, it’s time to get funkified and shake your rump. These funk classics never get tired, and with Visa featuring Rick James’ (pictured) “Superfreak” in its brilliant new commercial, we’re reminded of the broad appeal, feel-good rhythms, and booty shakin’ power of the old-school funk sounds. Let’s give it up, people, and get down on it!

All but one of these bands consist of real family members who had real chart success as a family-fronted group. Take a guess which one of them is just an act. We’ll be nice and give you a hint: they also starred in a hugely successful television show that shared the same name.
