London’s answer to the Anti-Folk of New York, the London nu-folk scene is a strong subculture that recently found popular expression in the successes of Laura Marling (nominated for the Mercury Prize) and Noah and the Whale. While there is no defining philosophy or musical style of the London nu-folk scene, with influences ranging from Bluegrass to Electronica, the musicians are united by their original songwriting abilities and a strong musical community.
